What is Emsculpt?

Unlike other fat-burning or muscle-building techniques like lasers and ultrasounds, Emsculpt is an electromagnetic procedure used to tighten muscles and remove fat cells from the buttocks and belly. It is non-invasive and FDA-approved.

How it works is simple: Your dermatologist will connect you to the machine while you lie down and relax. More specifically, strap a plastic paddle around your bare waist between your hip bones and ribs. Although your abdomen must be exposed during the procedure, you are always clothed.

While you lie there, the machine releases electromagnetic pulses that are used to burn off excess fat while strengthening your muscle fibers.

The procedure is so simple. In fact, it’s natural to wonder if it’s really too good to be true. Is that so, or can Emsculpt really help you turn down and up in all the right ways?

How does Emsculpt feel?

You can lie down on your front or back during your Emsculpt treatment. Once the machine is turned on, the sensation alternates between humming and tapping. Neither method is painful for most patients.

The procedure is not invasive and does not require ingestion or injection of any substance. Typically, doctors will start the procedure on a lower setting with gentler and slower pulses, gradually increasing to maximum power throughout the course of the session.

The makers of Emsculpt describe the experience as a high-intensity workout without exhaustion. In fact, quite the opposite, it’s all about encouraging your brain to relax while letting your muscles do all the work.

Are there any side effects of Emsculpt?

There is generally no redness or soreness after an Emsculpt treatment.

Does Emsculpt work?

People use Emsculpt for two main goals: trim the belly and produce firmer, more rounded buttocks. Emsculpt helps achieve these dual effects by burning fat and building muscle at the same time. That way, it’s like doing cardiovascular and strength training at the same time, just without breaking a sweat.

The way Emscuplt produces these effects is by triggering the muscles to contract on their own much faster than you can contract them. Described by at least one dermatologist as a miniature MRI machine, the Emsculpt device applies high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) pulses that stimulate your muscles to contract involuntarily far faster than you can achieve through voluntary contractions, such as Refinement.

For example, when doing ab crunch or leg squats, you activate about half of your body muscles every few seconds. With Emsculpt, you can activate all of your muscles at once and do 20,000 reps in 30 minutes. These rapid contractions do two things at once: they strengthen the muscle fibers and at the same time cause them to release certain chemicals that trigger the breakdown of fat cells.

The feeling of alternating taps and hums is of similar value. When you exercise your muscles, they release lactic acid, which, if not broken down properly and adequately, can cause unwanted side effects such as stomach pain, muscle soreness, shortness of breath, burning sensations, and nausea.

In an Emsculpt treatment, the buzzing sensation contracts the muscles just like they do during exercise, releasing lactic acid as well. The tapping sensation then helps break down the lactic acid so it won’t cause any unwanted side effects.

Emsculpt has proven so effective at reducing belly fat and strengthening abdominal muscles that the company reports plans to produce new Emsculpt machines targeting other areas of the body, such as the inner thighs and upper arms. Meanwhile, dermatologists can expand Emsculpt’s usefulness with small attachments to sculpt thighs, arms, and calves.

Emsculpt works equally well for women and men.

How long does Emsculpt take to work?

According to the inventors of Emsculpt, the standard recommended Emsculpt treatment is four 30-minute sessions over a two-week period. You can usually expect to see results from Emsculpt after about three months of treatment, they say. These improvements will gradually improve over six months after treatment.

Efficacy Study of Emsculpt

In one study, subjects experienced an average 15% increase in abdominal muscle thickness after two months of Emsculpt treatment, regardless of Emsculpt workload. Another study found a 19 percent increase in muscle mass six to nine months after treatment. In another study, subjects lost 1.7 inches of waist circumference after three months of treatment.

As of mid-2019, about 400 dermatologists in the U.S. used Emsculpt machines in their practices, and that number appears to only grow as customer satisfaction soars.

One doctor reported seeing five patients daily for Emsculpt treatment without any complaints, 50% of patients noticed results immediately after treatment, 84% noticed results one month after treatment, and 90% of patients in Effects were noticed three months after treatment.

Benefits of Emsculpt

It should now be clear how effective Emsculpt is in reducing belly fat and firming abdominal muscles. This, in turn, improves your appearance and boosts your self-confidence. However, these are not all the benefits of losing belly fat and firming abdominal muscles. In fact, these results have more benefits for your health and well-being.

Reducing excess belly fat in turn helps reduce the risk of heart disease. At the same time, strengthening your core can help you improve posture and balance, run and lift better, and reduce and prevent knee, back, and neck pain.

Still need to diet and exercise with Emsculpt?

While Emsculpt can work with or without exercise, even Emsculpt’s own manufacturers assert that it should not be used in place of exercise, and that the two together can work better than either alone, as the benefits of Emsculpt can Helps you perform more intense workouts.

Likewise, a healthy diet is essential for maintaining excess fat in the belly and other parts of the body. Also, the belly is often the last place to lose belly fat during exercise, although it is often the first place to gain belly fat. In these ways, a healthy diet and Emsculpt treatment also support each other to work more efficiently.

Forget about extreme, invasive and potentially dangerous options like plastic surgery to reduce unwanted belly fat and firm stubborn abs. If you’re as concerned about your health and fitness as your appearance, you sound like a prime candidate for Emsculpt treatment.
